My employer is a start-up company called Self Justice Inc. It has been very educational to work with the company cofounders Cynthia and Kyle, from the initial 1.5 hour job interview, to regular communication via Slack and emails. Their company mission to help self-represented family law Ontario applicants navigate the divorce process is a very valuable one. There are numerous barriers to justice, and the biggest of them is of course cost. By providing education and information to self-represented Ontario applicants the company aims to empower individuals to use various resources to acquire knowledge and confidence to be able to navigate the divorce process with minimal expenses. I have learned the process that a start-up company undergoes to get their website going which was very interesting. I have also learned how this start-up company organized its teams of employees on Slack. Lastly, I have learned how this company organized keeping track of projects and to do's. I have honed my legal research, writing and editing skills even further. The legal topics I was assigned were close to my heart. In addition, I have brainstormed and researched additional legal article blog posts/articles and continue to brainstorm even more useful topics to work on. It has been a pleasure to work with the cofounders.
