Main goal for this project: [3 mutually exclusive projects are in the pipeline and this is one example, will discuss other 2 when ready to dialogue on voice]

  1. Post literature on how Federal interest rates have influenced the average national inflation rates in the USA (over last decade).
  2. Determine how this "change" was managed & display its sustenance graphically (statistically) at different points of change.
  3. Evaluate possible factors that contribute to inflation variation other than federal interest rates if any
Deliverables

Tasks expected of students to complete by achieving project goals:

  1. Review available literature on how change is enabled by changing federal interest rates to address inflation rates for the USA. ==> Search literature for quantitative models, available in the form of graphical, or statistical information leading to some kind of predictability of inflation based on federal interest rates.
  2. Extract literature to show sustenance of this practice over time as in inflation rates variation over time with interim federal interest rate changes. ==> Graphical analyses and presentation with available raw data.
  3. Get list of factors that influence inflation other than federal interest rates (if any) and list them with an "order of importance." ==> Internet based research and others ==> Comment on effectiveness and efficiency of the change management process.
Mentorship

Option 1:

Mentorship and supervision highly recommended as follows:

  1. Daily 10 minute huddle on summarized actions and needs for team and sponsor [Guidance on Online Tools, Techniques, and DMAIC methodology provided by Industry Partner (IP) √ ]
  2. One hour meeting to review project status on Friday of each week [Weekly review meetings to assess progress, guide magnitude & direction for success with project progress and report completion in parallel√ ]
  3. Unplanned meetings/discussions if any related to anything escalated as necessary [1-2 weekdays of 15-minute huddle meetings/week to ensure direction and project progress pace is aligned √ ]
  4. Students can plan and propose items a-c and any step to reduce length and frequency of meetings is recommended as part of continuous improvement strategy with sponsor. Meetings aren't held just for the sake of holding them. [Modeling tool knowledge and means to execute it in all aspects including reducing meeting time and frequency √]

As a business process improvement coach & consultant I worked with several corporations in different continents over 31 years. After a successful 6-year work experience at General Electric Corporation, I founded my company in 2000, and have been fortunate to successfully deliver in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, technology, transactional as well as service type environments. Having published scientific & technical articles, including authoring 5 US patents I released my book on Lean Six Sigma in 2011. I converse reasonably in Dutch, and Spanish, the skills of which I acquired during my consulting times. To date, the total annualized direct customer benefits have accrued to several hundreds of millions of dollars across the globe in more than 20 years. I enjoy outdoor activities, and meeting people. I am thankful to my mentor (s), past employers, and my professional network members without which most achievements would have been impossible.
