First Work – Project Assistant
We are looking for students to play a key role as the Project Assistant. The student will work closely with the Membership and Programs team to assist in planning, implementation and execution of First Work’s initiatives. This role will involve supporting program delivery, enhancing communications, and contributing to the efficiently to the operations. Key Responsibilities 1. Program Support Support in the planning and execution of program activities in alignment with project timelines and deadlines. Contribute to development and implementation of data collection and analysis to evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making. Undertaking project tasks and providing administrative support as required. 2. Operations Assistance Help in coordinating logistics for events, workshops, or meetings, including venue research, preparing materials, and community outreach. Maintain program documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up to date. Assist in budget management and research required program resources. 3. Communications Support Contribute to internal and external communications, including drafting emails, newsletters, and social media content related to the program. Lead and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members. Respond to inquiries from stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional communication. 4. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with First Work team, providing administrative support as needed. Participate in team meetings, sharing updates and insights on assigned tasks. Engage with stakeholders and participants to gather feedback on program initiatives.
Virtual Internship Opportunity: Events draft
Our organization is able to offer a virtual internship opportunity for 1 student. The primary focus for the student will be: (please include a few examples of consulting projects you would like the student(s) to execute during the placement, as exemplified below.) Strategy - Develop an implementation plan for entering a new market; develop a go-to-market strategy for new products or services; identify new funding and grant opportunities and write proposals. Operations - Recommend process improvements or redesign processes; develop improvements to supply chain processes to be more responsive to changes in demand; introduce quality assurance into our internal processes; redesign incentive structures to improve employee performance and engagement. Marketing - Complete a full customer, competitor, market, and environmental analysis; complete a marketing strategy review; design a new marketing strategy (product, place, price, and promotion); conduct overhaul of our branding or communication strategy. Sales - Design a new/improved prospecting process for our sales team; design a new/improved pricing or service structure. Talent - Design a new/improved recruitment process; develop a diversity and inclusion strategy; design a new/improved employee engagement program with survey mechanisms. Finance - Design new/improved accounting processes; identify opportunities to streamline costs. Virtual Internship Opportunity: Events Intern
PROJECT SCOPE Our organization is able to offer a virtual internship opportunity as Event Intern for 1 student. The primary focus for the student will be: Event logistics – Collaborate on event logistics from virtual stages, registration, produce event documentation to support the execution of an event, live troubleshooting, risk mitigation, and surveys, sharing the responsibility of ensuring a smooth well-run event. Contribute to the development of special event proposals and plans to satisfy the needs of stakeholders. Communication – Interact and liaise with internal cross-functional teams as well as the broader network community to facilitate smooth exchange of information and ideas as they relate to planning, guiding, driving user engagement and interest through the First Work network. Our goal for the intern at the end of this experience is to: Learn the ropes of virtual event planning and develop new competencies that are necessary to succeed in today’s digital world. Organizing an event requires an individual to master some of its aspects like communication, speaker/vendor management, and digital skills. Furthermore, by working alongside a diverse group of experienced professionals and interacting with a variety of community stakeholders, the candidate will be able to hone their hard and soft skills. Develop cross-disciplinary skills that will make the intern more versatile and adaptable to change. Understand and experience the process of virtual event planning and the steps that are taken to execute events. Other duties the student may complete could include: Operations – Monitor key performance indicators at various stages of event life cycle and help team identify and document improvement opportunities, risks, lessons learned. Administration – Assist with ad-hoc tasks across the organization including but not limited to research and data entry. Virtual Internship Opportunity: Research Assistant
PROJECT SCOPE First Work is looking for a Research Assistant to advance their strategy through evidence-based research and policy with internal and external stakeholders. First Work is looking for someone who is driven and a proactive self-starter. The successful applicant will demonstrate sound judgment, be flexible, and be willing to learn and adapt to different work assignments in a team setting. This position is remote with a 35-hour work week. Key Responsibilities: Assist in designing survey and interview questions for data collection from key stakeholders Assist in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, using a variety of methodologies and data sources, and support the development of high-profile thought leadership pieces. Aid in coordinating day-to-day activities of any partners engaged in carrying out research. Inclusive of creating and maintaining clear and concise notes from stakeholder meetings/interviews. Help monitor the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities and supports the development of internal and external materials related to research insights, including, presentations and reports that clearly communicate findings and implications.
