Web OR Mobile App UI / UX Design & Prototype

Our company would like to explore designing a prototype for a responsive web application. Tasks may include: Conducting background research on existing competitor web application for the product. Conducting research if a web app or mobile app is the right fit. Identifying key areas of development requiring more complicated tech and how they might approach creating the prototype (including pros and cons to specific tools). Identifying areas in which AI can be utilized within the platform. Learning and using various software design tools. We strongly recommend students learn how to use Figma as this is the latest and greatest tool currently available. Creation of a screen by screen UX / UI prototype on Figma. Conducting UX / UI testing with real potential users potentially involving paper prototypes or other software tools to support this

Digital Marketing for Wellness Startup

Our company is consolidating resources into a single hub to enable personalized wellness resources to be found quickly. We have developed a set of marketing strategies, but it has been challenging to implement them. We would like to collaborate with students to review and post content promoting our company. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our target market, products and services. Reviewing marketing content in the form of posts, emails, events, etc. Deploying content according to our social media calendar to increase website traffic. Overseeing our channels and keeping them up-to-date. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending search engine optimization (SEO) strategies so our materials are easily accessible.

Student Team Feedback on Capstone Industry Collaboration We appreciate the opportunity to work on a real-world project as part of our capstone experience. As a team of four students, we were excited to engage with an industry partner and apply our skills in a practical setting. However, we encountered several challenges throughout the collaboration that significantly impacted our ability to align with the sponsor's expectations. From the beginning, communication with the industry funder was difficult. Their communication style was, unfortunately, not conducive to a constructive working relationship, and this concern was echoed by our professor, who chose to step back from communication early in the process. Over time, each team member independently reached the same conclusion. The requirements and mockups were frequently changed on a weekly basis, often without sufficient notice or time for proper implementation. Despite these challenges, we consistently did our best to adapt and deliver updates accordingly. Another critical issue was a lack of clarity regarding the tech stack. At no point during the early stages was a specific programming language or framework formally documented or shared in a clear and accessible way. Instead, we received a partial screenshot of an unfamiliar codebase, with no link or context. The expectation to use a specific technology was only communicated much later in the process, which made it difficult to course-correct effectively. Additionally, there was a misunderstanding of the nature of our involvement. The sponsor seemed to approach the relationship as if we were interns or employees, whereas we clearly communicated multiple times that this was a student project as part of our academic coursework, not a co-op or internship. Despite all of these obstacles, we remained committed to the project, communicated respectfully, and made every effort to meet expectations under the circumstances. We believe this experience highlighted the importance of clear, professional communication and mutual respect in collaborative projects.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for giving our students the opportunity to work on the capstone project with you. Your support, responsiveness, and collaboration throughout made a huge difference. Even though my main communication was with the students, I’ve been closely following their progress and updates along the way. From everything I saw and heard, they truly enjoyed working with you and appreciated how open and engaged you were during the whole process. It was a great learning experience for them. Thanks again for being such a great partner — we really appreciate it!

Working with SaraLi and her team was fantastic! We had weekly meetings with the full team (in house developers and other college teams), and a few smaller meetings with just our Mohawk College team and SaraLi. No meetings were missed. We, the students, were given well thought out and planned mock-ups in Figma, and her in-house developers gave us walkthroughs of how to use Firebase, as well as using GitHub in a team setting. The experience was fantastic, and the communication between everyone was open, friendly, and efficient. We have no complaints at all about working with SaraLi and her team, and have offered to continue to help with the development of the app until next semester.
